MarketVision Research Internship Testimonial

My journey at MarketVision Research started through an internship with the Qualitative team.

Let me start from the beginning...It was a Thursday after a long week of exams and I was in dire need of a coffee before my 4:25pm marketing class. I contemplated skipping the class to catch up on other things. Yet, my inner voice nudged me to go. Perhaps it was knowing I’d have to sling wings at Buffalo Wild Wings in the summer if I didn’t snag a summer internship.

Lo and behold, we had a guest speaker from MarketVision Research that day who introduced me to the world of marketing research. I had no clue people got paid to conduct research and collect insights for companies on how their customers make everyday decisions. It was a nice mix of consulting and marketing. So, I applied for an internship with the Qualitative team, thinking, "Why not? Beats serving hot wings all summer."

After the interview process, I was offered the internship! I was excited but genuinely had no idea what I had gotten myself into. To put it into perspective, I had to google “What is a moderator?”

Overall if I were to sum up my internship experience in two words it would be: valuable and rewarding.

Here are a few key reasons:

first day on job: First day on the job the CEO came up to my desk to introduce himself and welcome me to the company. I was just an intern, but he made me feel like I mattered.

front row seat: Unlike your typical coffee-fetching intern, I got a front-row seat at the decision-making table. I supported projects working with Fortune 500 companies, collaborated with an awesome team, and even had the chance to conduct my own research project from start to finish.

making difference: I also felt like I was making a difference on the projects I worked on. Whether it was researching pharmaceutical drugs or innovative consumer products, it gave me a profound sense of purpose. Knowing that my work had the potential to make someone's life easier, better, or more comfortable became a key motivator.

end of internship: Finally, at the end of my internship, I presented to the CEO, CHRO and other company leaders about the value I added to the projects I worked on and the results of my internship research project. They were impressed by what I had accomplished and thrilled I had a positive experience.

From that point on I was hooked. I went back for a second summer as an intern and then applied for a full-time role. I started predominantly as an analyst and got to work on projects in various industries with a diverse array of team members who invested in my development. Equipped with my own personal drive and the support of my manager and mentors, I have evolved within my role to become a moderator – yes, that’s me in the room with the two-way mirror conducting focus groups! 😉. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work at MarketVision Research and for the unwavering support extended by the company, my team and colleagues. Oh, and the cherry on top? I'm now a company guest speaker at multiple universities – talk about a full-circle moment!
